What is the Audio Engineering Society (AES)

Becoming an audio engineer is an exciting journey that expands the experience of listening to music. Producing an excellent sounding recording takes extensive knowledge and experience. Because technology is always changing and new recording techniques are always being developed, engineers need to stay up to date on the current technology.

One resource available to help with this is the Audio Engineering Society  (AES).

AES is an organization of people involved in various aspects of recording. It is a place where engineers, scientists, equipment designers and manufacturers, and related professionals all come together to trade new ideas and information. They hold periodic conventions to bring all these people together. In addition, AES publishes research by members and helps to codify standards within the audio industry.  Membership is not free, but for the engineer who is interested in further developing their craft there is a wealth of history and information available.
